The breath-taking final match of ‘Surendra Agarwal Memorial Inter-College Football Tournament 2017’ (SAM Football Tournament) was played between the host team Surendra Institute of Engineering and Management (SIEM) and North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) on 31st March, 2017 at SIEM football ground. Both the teams had the spectators on their feet and cheering till the end. The match remained undecided till the total tenure of the game and was finally decided with a penalty shoot-out. NBMCH stood out as the champion of the tournament. Dr. Kalyan Khan, Associate Professor, and Coordinator, Medical Education Unit, North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, had graced the final event as the chief guest. The result of the final day match was: SIEM - 3, NBMCH - 4. The finalists of the tournament were awarded with prize money of Rs. 6, 000 (winner) and Rs. 3, 000 (runners up) along with trophies in the closing ceremony. The prizes declared in the tournament were: Man of the Tournament – Sharad Chettri (SIEM); Highest Goal Scorer – Thonman Rounem (NBMCH) ; Best Goal Keeper – Wang Tsering (SIEM) ; Man of the Match (Final) – Biswanath Barman (NBMCH) ; Fair Play Award – NBU.
