ALACRITY II - The annual inter-college fest
ALACRITY 2014, the annual inter-college fest of Surendra Institute of Engineering & Management (SIEM), Siliguri was held on 28th, 29th & 30th of Jan 2014. It was dedicated solely to cultural events and technical competitions. “Mind, Magic, Miracle”, with this mantra the event went on creating a cultural and educational fanfare among the participant students. The second day of the fest was dedicated to cultural and technical events and competitions. A healthy number of students participated from colleges from in and around Siliguri. “Well does life get any better/ more yesterday than today…” - musically charged bunch of audience cheerfully shook their heads and legs with the thrilling notes and rocking tunes of ‘Parikrama’, the world famous band when the daylight slowly started fading away in the evening. India’s leading band ‘Parikrama’ was all set to hit the air with their all time popular numbers to mark ‘Alacrity ’14’, the annual inter-college extravaganza of ‘Surendra Institute of Engineering and Management’ (SIEM), Siliguri. ‘Parikrama’ was the chief attraction of the second day’s events of the three day long ‘Alacrity ’14’ which drew a big crowd comprising of students of SIEM, dignitaries, guests and students from different colleges of North Bengal. The gaming competition and fashion parade were the other major highlights of the three day fest. In order to induce the technological quotient among students of this region, “Live CS” event was held at SIEM for the first time in North Bengal, where students could practically participate in simulated gaming. “Robo-War” was also another live robotics which enthralled students with the real experience of robotics. This cultural & technical festival witnessed students competing in several activities such as Debate, Instrumental, Documentary, Quiz, Light Painting, Face Painting, Graphics Designing, Dancing, Singing, DJ & RJ competiton and many more, aiming to impress the judges with their talent and skills. While the fashion show contest had gobs of glamour, the rock band competition infused high energy among the onlookers. And what added to the fun was the enthusiastic response of the crowd that cheered, sang and danced along with the performance of the guest bands “Bong Earth” and “Down Syndrome” from Siliguri. The closing ceremony of the fest was marked with the prize distribution to the winners and runners up participants by the distinguished dignitaries and guests.
